Past Achievements

Here are some past projects and initiatives that I have championed and played a key role as a Councillor. Some are large and on-going; some are neighbourhood concerns. There are certainly others, and always accomplished with the cooperation of Residents, Staff, and Council. Here is a sampling:

    Term One:
     
  • Secured slots dollars from the province as Milton's Representative on Race Track Mayor's Task Force
  • Provision for Police Vehicle & Community Officers assigned to Nassagaweya 24/7
  • Establishing Milton Community Fund
  • New Brookville Park play structure
  • Established Teen Zone as part of Canada Day
  • Proper installation of valuable artwork at Nassagaweya Community Centre, including AJ Casson originals naming Nassagaweya Veterans and original Pudsey watercolour
  • Conservation Halton Foundation "Halton Rising Wild & Beckoning" Book Committee
  • Called for installation of house number signs in Campbellville for timely and accurate response of emergency services
  • Met the issue of an illegal herb packaging plant on 20 Sideroad head on

    Term Two:
     
  • Advocated for Campbellville Emergency Response Centre (first to suggest including police and ambulance)
  • Lobbied for Springers Gymnastics in design for Sports Centre
  • Secured second 'fall' drop-off at Brookville Yard for Nassagaweya Residents, as requested by residents
  • Secured School Board support for new entrance to Brookville School / Guelph Line reconstruction
  • Initiation of Council Notes in local paper, keeping local residents informed of council activities
  • Initiatives to begin BPW (Business Professional Women) in Halton
  • Removal of Knoll in Moffat; installation of 4-way stop
  • Called for installation of house number signs in Pine Ridge and Tuscany Ridge
  • Confronted issue of wood processing on Sixth Line Nassagaweya
  • Expanded definition of Home Business / Industry in Zoning By-law
  • Inclusion of Animal Control facility in proposed new Works Yard
  • Stood with residents concerned with water taking permits on border of Moffat, successfully extending town policy for notification of changes to property use in all rural areas
  • Miton designate to the Countryside committee of the GTSB (Greater Toronto Services Board)
  • Liaison with Town and CABA for sidewalk clearing, flower bed design, litter receptacles in Campbellville
  • Repaving Blacklock Drive
  • Requested streetlights at 25 Sideroad / Guelph Line and 5 Sideroad / Campbellville Road

    Term Three:
     
  • Physician Recruitment Tours and Retention Initiatives
  • Participated with Hospital Board to secure CT scan approval for Milton District Hospital and on-going initiatives to recognize growth in Provincial funding formulas
  • Personally presented need for 401 / Guelph Line interchange improvements to Provincial Minister
  • Advocated for Campbellville Skating Rink
  • Removal of Portables from former Waldorf School
  • Purchase of property for new entrance to Brookville Park
  • Inclusion of Nassagaweya Veterans in Juno Beach Memorial
  • Preservation of historic pillars during Guelph Line reconstruction
  • Solving drainage issues, Tuscany Ridge
  • Soft entrance to Kean Hill Cemetery, preserving landscape in Tuscany Ridge
  • Secured corporate donations to fund Teen Zone at Canada Day, Milton's Book Festival for Children, United Way Dinner Auction, NCCC Projects
  • Economic Development Brochure for employment lands through MEDAC
  • Requirement that Bell notify in writing and hold a community meeting on proposed Tower in Brookville prior to application (no application to date)
